DAWN DUDEK is a multidisciplinary artist inspired by natural settings, duality, environmental awareness, and popular culture with a strong sense of narrative; all recurring themes within her work. Dudek uses traditional mediums and digital tools to create her artworks moving between photography, sculptural installation, painting, ink drawing and animation. Born in Winnipeg, Canada, Dudek is a graduate of OCAD. She began her career as a Junior Art Director for MAC Cosmetics, then served as Director of Broadcast Animation at TOPIX/Mad Dog studio, working with clients like Paramount Pictures, MTV, and General Mills, and later became Art Director at Maclaren McCann Interactive for clients including Nesquik, General Motors, and RBC. In 2001, Dudek left Toronto and moved to France to focus on her art until 2020. Now back in Canada, her work reflects a tension between the familiar and the unknown. She has exhibited internationally, including twice at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in the Carrousel du Louvre and a solo exhibition at the 63rd Festival de Cannes. She was Artist in Residence at Fremantle Arts Centre and Sointula Art Shed, where she developed her project “Distance + Displacement,” exhibited at ECU Gallery 25 in Perth, winning the Fringe World Award 2023 and was featured in Artlyst’s “Contemporary Artists in the Spotlight 2023,”.
